How Air Conditioning Work
Air conditioning has fundamentally changed how people experience the world. When it’s hot outside, walking into an air-conditioned house is like walking into another season. Few pieces of technology have had such a striking effect on people’s daily lives. Find out how air conditioners keep us cool. Credits: , HowStuffWorks

this video is a terrible representation describing an air conditioner.

It’s the pump that gets ya. Same with your air conditioner in your car when you turn it on you burn more gas.

Yea totally shit way of explaining it. Just goggle it this vid is vague.

Looks like the guys who installed that outdoor unit didn’t leave enough room all the way around it for air flow and the leaves don’t help as then could get sucked up onto the coil…..

not really how it works. Compressing a gas through an orifice smaller than the area surrounding the output causes cooling. Think of this, near the center of a fire explosion the heat is hottest, as the explosion travels further outward the explosion is cooler; becuase the molecules have traveled further apart.

hehehe:D he made a huge mistace.. freon is no longer used. It fucks up the ozon
July 16th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
this isn’t that wrong as all you followers say. hes not talking about the pfm that goes on in the condensor and the evaporator he is saying that as air is blown acrossed the device known as an evaporator the ambient air temp is absorbed by the “freon” or r-22 and cools that air flowing through the house. this cools your house same with a car on a larger scale. by the way freon is a bullshit term copywritten by a company there are hundreds of different refigerents all with different names
July 20th, 2009 at 1:19 am
just buy a fan
lol

all techs be ready. Dupont has anounced that in 7 years 410-A will no longer be used. A new refrigerant 438-A will replace R-22. It is a new direct dropin replacement. only thing that needs to be done is on bigger semi-hermetic compressors, the gaskets need to be changed. Pressures are near identical, to that of R-22.

If you turn on the A/C in your car, and you find the low pressure side, and you feel the metal tubing, it’ll be ice cold. Sometimes there’s even ice on it.
